A petite French framed oil painting from the late 19th century from Aix-en-Provence, depicting a country Provençal scene. Born during the later years of the tumultuous 19th century, this petite painting was found in Aix-en-Provence, birth place of Post-Impressionist painter Paul Cézanne. Featuring a warm palette mostly made of ochre, green and blue tones, this painting revolves around a cypress tree, typical of the Southern French landscape, flanking the side of a Provençal house. The deep, green color of the tall tree is delicately highlighted by the presence of the golden sky. The neutral colors of the house are simply contrasted by the joyous blue shutter of the window. With its post-impressionist style and soft palette, this painting is a lovely tribute to the serene Provençal life. Set inside a painted wood frame, this 1890s oil painting is signed 'Olivier' lower right.
