A Swedish Gustavian style chest from the late 19th century with three drawers and fluted side posts. Created in Sweden during the last decade of the 19th century, this Gustavian style chest features a rectangular top with beveled edges, sitting above three dovetailed drawers fitted with Classical hardware. Flanked with fluted side posts topped with raised medallions, the chest is resting on four feet, tapered and fluted in the front and straight in the back. Painted in a soft color typical of the Scandinavian taste for light palettes, the chest boasts a nicely weathered patina. With its clean lines and subtle décor, this Swedish Gustavian style three-drawer chest circa 1890 will bring an elegant presence to any bedroom or living room.
