A Swedish two-part tall secretary from the late 18th century, with slanted front desk, carved motifs and geometric glass doors. Created in Sweden during the last decade of the 18th century, this painted secretary features a cornice with dentil molding, overhanging two glass doors with geometric patterns, opening to reveal inner shelves offering great display opportunities. The central section showcases a slant front desk with unusual interior made of drawers and a single door, delicately carved with scrolling foliage motifs. Presenting four graduating drawers flanked with carved side posts and fitted with brass Chippendale hardware, the secretaire is resting on a bracketed plinth. Painted in a soft color typical of the Scandinavian taste for light palettes, this Swedish two-part secretary circa 1790 will bring a graceful presence to any living room or study.
