SOLD - A Swedish Gustavian period sofa bench from the late 18th century with scraped paint and carved guilloche-inspired motifs. Created in Sweden during the Gustavian era, this wooden sofa captures our attention with its elongated guilloche-reminiscent motifs adorning the straight back and arms. Topped with petite round finials accentuating the fluted supports as well as a floral carving on the center of the upper rail, the bench presents an upholstered seat resting on seven feet (six fluted ones surrounding a tapered one in the back). Boasting a nicely weathered appearance, the bench is ready for reupholstery. With its Gustavian lines and distressed patina, this Swedish sofa bench circa 1790 will bring an undeniable touch of Classical elegance to any home, perhaps displayed in a living room, bedroom or foyer.
