SOLD - Swedish Rococo Style 1810s Longcase Mora Clock with Two-Toned Original Paint

SOLD - A Swedish Rococo style wooden longcase Mora clock from the early 19th century with most of its original paint. Created in Sweden during the first quarter of the 19th century, this Swedish carved and painted Mora clock is topped with a simply carved crest. Secured behind a hinged glass door, the original face showcases Arabic numbers and the inscription Malls Erst Sond and Mora. The two-hinged teardrop shaped door decorates the center of the curvy body while the lower part of the clock is raised on petite bracket feet. The two-toned finish, showing nice age, reveals a light palette, typical of the Scandinavian taste for pastel colors, chosen to brighten up the dark winters with their short days. We would be happy to discuss quartzing the clock with you to bring it to a working condition, a quartz crystal could be installed for an additional $175. With its curvy, graceful profile and soft tones, this Swedish Rococo style Mora clock with carved crest, circa 1810 will make for an elegant addition anywhere, from a living room to a hallway to a bedroom. As far as the overall condition is concerned, this piece presents a rustic character and imperfections including a few chips on the clock face.
