A pair of Swedish Gustavian style painted wood chests from the late 19th century, with thee graduating drawers, fluting and diamond motifs. Created in Sweden during the last quarter of the 19th century, each of this pair of Gustavian style chests features a slightly raised rectangular top with canted corners in the front, sitting above a dentil molding followed by three graduating drawers. Flanked with fluted side posts topped with diamond motifs, the chests are raised on short tapered feet, angled in the front. Painted in a soft color typical of the Scandinavian taste for light palettes, this pair of Gustavian style painted wood chests circa 1880 will bring a touch of undeniable elegance to any bedroom or living room.
