A Swedish Gustavian style painted wood console table from the 19th century, with carved waterleaves, X-form stretcher and finial. Created in Sweden during the 19th century, this painted console table features a rectangular top with a frieze of carved waterleaves, sitting above an apron echoing the same motifs in an inverted manner and flanked with rosettes. Painted in a soft color typical of the Scandinavian taste for light palettes, the table is raised on four fluted legs with elongated gadroon motifs. It is the curving X-form cross stretcher however, that attracts our attention with its stunning carved finial. With its graceful lines and skillfully executed décor, this 19th century Gustavian style painted table will be an excellent addition to any living room or bedroom.
