SOLD - A French Louis XVI period painted and carved wooden fauteuil from the late 18th century, with oval back, floral fabric and distressed finish. Born in France during the reign of King louis XVI, this armchair features an oval back, adorned with twisted ribbon motifs. Two partially upholstered open arms with scrolling extremities come to rest on the sides of the seat while the ensemble is raised on four fluted legs with carved rosettes on the knees. Upholstered with a floral fabric, the fauteuil presents a lovely distressed patina complimenting the classical lines beautifully. With its elegant silhouette and skillfully carved décor, this late 18th century Louis XVI armchair will bring a touch of style to any home, whether placed in a living room or bedroom.
