SOLD - French Louis XVI 18th Century Painted Trumeau with Giltwood Musical Instruments

A French Louis XVI period painted trumeau mirror from the late 18th century, with carved giltwood musical trophy. Born in France during the short reign of King Louis XVI, this exquisite trumeau mirror features a light grey painted background of linear shape, beautifully adorned with gilded accents. Our eye is immediately drawn to the upper panel, decorated with musical instruments symbolizing the Liberal Arts, standing out on delicate foliage. The central mirror plate, showing some signs of aging, is surrounded by a carved inner frame highlighted with bead and reel motifs, the ensemble being flanked with tall pilaster-inspired motifs with ribbon-tied tassels and bouquets of flowers. The lovely contrast between the grand simplicity of the painted background and the delicacy of the carved giltwood motifs, along with its great proportions, will make this French Louis XVI late 18th century trumeau mirror a focal point in any living room or dining room.
