SOLD - French Régence Style 1890s Upholstered Walnut Armchair with Stretcher

SOLD - A French Régence style walnut armchair from the late 19th century, with new upholstery, cabriole legs and X-form cross stretcher. Born in France during the later years of the 19th century, each of this pair of armchairs features a slightly slanted back, connected to two scrolling arms, carved with low-relief foliage on their knuckles. The seats and backs are covered with a sturdy double-welt cotton fabric, allowing the warmth of the walnut to shine beautifully. Each armchair is adorned with a scalloped skirt, decorated with delicate carvings, and is raised on four cabriole legs with hoofed feet, connected to one another through an exquisite curving X-form cross stretcher. With their Régence lines, nice proportions and lovely walnut patina, this armchair circa 1890 will bring a touch of French elegance to any home, perhaps placed in a living room or bedroom. Chair's arm height is 26". ONE AVAILABLE.
