ON HOLD- A Swedish Gustavian style painted wood sideboard from the mid 19th century, with two drawers, two doors and carved diamond motifs. Created in Sweden during the 1850s, this Gustavian style painted sideboard features a slightly raised rectangular top sitting above two drawers. Showcasing a dovetailed construction revealing its age, the drawers are carved with horizontal diamond motifs with reeded patterns. Two doors below, adorned with similar motifs, make up the rest of the façade. These doors open to reveal inner shelves offering convenient storage opportunities. The sideboard, raised on four short tapered feet, is painted in a soft color typical of the Swedish taste for light palettes aiming at brightening the rooms during the dark winters of Scandinavia.
With its clean lines, distressed finish and subtle carved décor, this Swedish Gustavian style painted sideboard circa 1850 will make for a great addition to any home, perhaps placed in a living room or kitchen.
