Swedish Rococo Period Slant Front Desk Painted in Black with Distressed Finish

A Swedish Rococo period two-part slant-front desk from the 18th century, repainted in black with a blue interior and later iron hardware. Created in Sweden during the Rococo period, this two-part secretary features a narrow rectangular top sitting above a slanted front, opening to reveal a perfectly organized interior. The writing area rests on two pull-outs surrounding a thin drawer. Painted in a light blue color, the inside is made of a central door flanked with openings and drawers, adorned with arched accents. The lower section presents three drawers (two small ones over a large one), all presenting a dovetail construction revealing the piece's good age. The ensemble is resting on four slender cabriole legs. The skirt is discreetly carved on three of the sides. The desk has been repainted in black with a nicely distressed appearance complimenting the piece beautifully. With its graceful lines and convenient features, this Swedish Rococo period slant-front desk from the 18th century will make for a wonderful addition to any home, placed in a study, bedroom or living room!
