SOLD - French Louis XVI Period 1790s Walnut Three Drawer Commode with Brass Hardware

SOLD - A French Louis XVI period walnut commode from the late 18th century, with three drawers, brass hardware and tapered legs. Created in France during the last decade of the 18th century, this walnut commode features a rectangular planked top sitting above three drawers. Each drawer features two linear shaped brass handles flanking a central shield shaped escutcheon, the ensemble surrounded by a thin molded frame. The drawers' hand cut dovetail construction reveals the piece's good age. The sides are each made of recessed panels divided into two sections and the back is, of course, simply planked and unfinished as expected to be seen on a piece like this one. The ensemble is raised on four short tapered legs. With its clean lines and warm walnut color, this French Louis XVI period three drawer commode circa 1790 will bring a touch of classical elegance to any home, particularly placed in a bedroom, living room or foyer.
