A French Louis XIV style carved walnut fauteuil from the late 18th century with large scrolling open arms, Flemish scroll legs, curving X-form stretcher and old upholstery. Created in France during the last decade of the 18th century, this armchair features a tall, slightly slanted rectangular back connected to two scrolling arms. The seat and back are upholstered with an old striated fabric in fair condition with brass nailhead trim. The ensemble is raised on four Flemish style scrolling legs connected to one another through a curving X-Form cross stretcher.
