SOLD - A French wooden confiturier cabinet from the mid 18th century, with single door, molded arched panel and carved apron. Created in France during the reign of King Louis XV nicknamed Le Bien-Aimé (The Beloved) in the mid 18th century, this confiturier (a small cupboard dedicated to storing the "confitures", jams, jellies and preserves), features a rectangular planked top with beveled edges, sitting above a single door. This door, fitted with Rococo style hardware, is adorned with a sinuous molding and a recessed panel. It opens to reveal inner shelves. The sides are made of simple recessed panels and the back is, of course, unfinished. The ensemble is raised on four feet, the front ones being scrolled and connected to one another through a carved apron adorned with a delicate rosette. The hind feet are straight. With its elegant lines and lovely patina, this Louis XV period French confiturier circa 1750 will make for an excellent addition to any kitchen, living room or hallway.
