His beak partially opened reveals that he is on alert, probably defending his territory. His talons are firmly planted on a textured ground while the ensemble is resting on a rectangular base with rais-de-cœur motifs. With its skillful depiction and dark golden patina, this French bronze rooster sculpture from the 19th century will make for a lovely addition to any home, perhaps displayed on the top of a chest of drawers, of a side table or a credenza.
