A Dutch carved oak buffet à deux-corps, dated 1793. The bonnet-shaped cornice surmounts an upper section organized around a central clock with a pewter face engraved "Paquais Toiris à la Haute Chaussée de Montégnée 1793" — a dated and signed inscription that firmly places the piece and identifies its maker, providing a precision of documentary evidence rare in furniture of this type. Two glazed doors with canted sides flank the clock, allowing display of objects within. The lower buffet section is carved with shells and scrolls in the Dutch Rococo manner. Large bun feet support the composition. The combination of an integrated clock, dated inscription, and maker's reference gives this piece exceptional historical and documentary interest beyond its considerable decorative quality. The oak has developed a warm, honey-toned patina consistent with its age. 73.75"W × 27"D × 91.5"H.
