A Swedish painted wood clock cabinet from the early nineteenth century, circa 1810–1820. The two-part form features a molded cornice above a glazed upper door enclosing a clock face painted with fruit and foliate motifs and Roman numerals. Below, a pair of paneled doors opens to reveal fitted interior shelving flanked by drawers, all raised on short tapering feet. Finished in a soft painted ground with a gently distressed patina characteristic of Scandinavian provincial cabinetry of the period. A functional and decorative example of Swedish folk classicism. 52.75"W × 18.25"D × 80.75"H.
