A French Louis XIII-style walnut buffet, nineteenth century. The façade presents two doors carved with diamond-point (pointe de diamant) motifs — the faceted surface decoration that became the defining ornamental signature of the Louis XIII style and remained one of the most recognized references in French revival cabinetmaking throughout the nineteenth century. A single drawer above the doors is flanked by raised pointe de diamant panels, extending the decorative program consistently across the upper and lower registers. The walnut is dark and richly figured, with the depth of tone that comes with age. The Louis XIII revival was one of the most persistent and commercially successful stylistic revivals in nineteenth-century French furniture, and well-executed examples such as this read as authentic period work in virtually any interior context. 53.75"W × 23.12"D × 43.5"H.
