Swedish Gustavian Period 1810s Dove Gray Painted Sideboard with Diamond Motifs
A Swedish Gustavian painted sideboard, circa 1810. The piece is finished in a dove grey with a subtle warm cream quality — a characteristic tone of the late Gustavian period, when painted furniture in soft, pale palettes was produced throughout Sweden for the interiors of manor houses and merchant households alike. The two doors are carved with diamond motifs and carry a soft gilded accent that adds depth to the ornament. The interiors reveal shelves and concealed dovetail drawers — the dovetail construction confirming the quality of the original joinery. The piece rests on a bracketed plinth base.
