A Swedish Rococo two-part cabinet, circa 1790, constructed in light European oak with burl walnut accents. The piece is distinguished by a chapeau de gendarme cornice — a bonnet-shaped arched pediment characteristic of the Swedish Rococo idiom — above two paneled doors that open to reveal interior shelves and concealed drawers. The lower section presents four drawers in two tiers, smaller over larger, fitted with original Rococo-style bronze hardware. The combination of figured burl and straight-grained oak creates a lively surface contrast. An accomplished example of late eighteenth-century Swedish provincial cabinetmaking, retaining its period hardware and overall integrity. 60.6"W × 22.8"D × 85.4"H.
