A pair of Louis XV period painted communication doors, France, 1750s. Each door presents a symmetrical arrangement of curving molded panels — larger forms at the upper register, smaller panels below — characteristic of the Rococo sensibility of mid-eighteenth-century French interior joinery. The grey painted surfaces retain a soft, well-aged patina, while the original iron hardware provides a dark silver counterpoint: scrolling strap hinges, a Rococo escutcheon, and a cast handle set on a floral backplate. The reverse presents a similarly paneled composition, more restrained in its detailing. Communication doors of this type were purpose-made to connect adjoining salons while maintaining visual continuity in formal French interiors. Original hardware intact. Offered as a pair.
