A well-proportioned Louis XVI–style chest of drawers crafted in walnut, dating from the early 19th century. The façade opens with five drawers arranged in three rows, fitted with elegant drop handles and retaining a single working key that operates all five locks. The drawer layout and restrained ornament reflect the continued influence of neoclassical design in the period following the French Revolution.
The front uprights are rounded and finely fluted, emphasizing vertical rhythm and classical clarity, while the rear uprights project slightly, providing visual and structural definition to the case. The chest rests on four straight, sheathed legs terminating in brass sabots, reinforcing the architectural vocabulary of the Louis XVI style. The warm walnut surface displays a harmonious grain and an even patina.
Presented in very good condition, the chest has been carefully cleaned and re-patinated, preserving its character while enhancing its overall presentation. A versatile and refined storage piece, suitable for use in a bedroom, hallway, or formal living space.
