A Swedish Rococo period painted wood Trågsoffa from the late 18th century, with upholstered seat, shell carved apron, meander motifs and cabriole legs. This three-sitter showcases a straight back connected to two full arms. It is the apron however, which attracts our attention with its delicately carved meander frieze topping Rococo shells and cross hatched patterns. The ensemble is raised on five cabriole legs carved with foliage. The seat, arms and back are upholstered with a used fabric in quite good condition despite the fact that it is not new. The sofa is painted in a nicely distressed soft color typical of the Swedish taste for light palettes aiming at brightening the rooms during the long and dark winters of Scandinavia. With its elegant lines, beautifully carved décor and weathered finish, this Swedish Trågsoffa will bring a touch of undeniable elegance to any home, whether placed in a bedroom, living room or foyer.
