A late nineteenth-century Asian porcelain cachepot decorated with floating cartouches in blue, white, and orange. The circular body is embellished with cartouche reserves that appear suspended against the ground — a decorative convention drawn from Chinese and Japanese export porcelain traditions, where framed ornamental panels are set against a richly patterned field. Foliage motifs animate the areas between the cartouches. The combination of blue, crisp white, and warm orange is characteristic of Asian export porcelain produced for the European market during this period. A charming, well-decorated small-scale cachepot for a tabletop or interior display.
