A monumental Italian mahogany bookcase, late 19th century, in two parts. Four glazed doors enclose the upper section, its pale shelved interior displaying books and objects behind old glass, while the base answers with paneled cupboard doors concealing deeper storage. The molded cornice and clean pilaster divisions give the piece library-grade architecture, and the flame figure of the mahogany warms the whole facade. Bookcases of this scale and quality are genuinely hard to find and instantly transform a library, study, living room, or dining room into the room's centerpiece. The doors operate properly throughout; wear is consistent with age and careful use.
