A Swedish painted small cabinet, circa 1880. The piece is finished in a neutral light-to-medium grey paint through which the underlying wood is visible — a natural result of long use and the abrasion of handling that collectors of Scandinavian painted furniture particularly value. The recessed panels on the door and sides are framed with molded accents, lending the cabinet a quiet architectural refinement.
