A pair of late Victorian Scottish Fireclay Garden Urns, the campagna shaped urns decorated with trailing plants, with ring handles to the sides, on square pedestals with moulded laurel leaves, stamped, Hurlford, Fireclay, Kilmarnock.
Hurlford Fire Clay Works founded in 1857, started making fire bricks, chimney pots and pipes etc. By 1886 they had expanded and were making garden ornaments and kitchen ware and had many wealthy patrons including Queen Victoria at Balmoral. After the second World War they were taken over several times and eventually closed in the 1970s.
