A nineteenth-century Alpine cupboard of solid fir, retaining its original painted finish in soft ivory and pale gray throughout. The gracefully rounded sides and spherical feet give the form a distinctive sculptural quality unusual in regional cabinetmaking. The shaped cymatium is crowned with a carved central rosette and scroll detailing, while the paneled doors are framed by fluid gray-highlighted moldings that emphasize the geometry of the facade. Aged painted surfaces show natural oxidation and gentle wear consistent with the period. Original wrought-iron bushings remain intact. The interior features two later-added small doors, which can be removed to reconfigure storage as needed. Measures 50 inches wide, 18⅛ inches deep, 75¼ inches tall (crown: 53⅞ inches wide).
