An elegant antique two-drawer chest of drawers from the Louis XVI period, from the Emilian region.
Featuring simple lines and balanced proportions, our chest of drawers features two finely inlaid drawers in light wood with floral motifs and scrolls that stand out against the walnut base. Each drawer features gilded brass handles and escutcheons, as well as a contemporary lock. The tapered, square-section legs are embellished with inlaid plant motifs that match the front. At the center of the top is a refined inlay depicting a romantic scene. A rich, meticulously inlaid floral and plant motif develops around the central scene, composed of vines, leaves, and flowers that branch out symmetrically to the sides, creating a harmonious balance. The sides are also embellished with an inlaid motif depicting musical instruments and floral trophies, elegantly tied with a ribbon bow. This subject, a recurring theme in neoclassical style, symbolizes harmony, culture, and beauty, values dear to the late eighteenth century.
