A pair of Edwardian period reconstituted stone urns on pedestals, England, circa 1900. Each urn is composed in the classical mode: a swelling belly encircled by gadroon motifs and accented with rosettes, set on a linear pedestal base adorned with lion head decoration on the sides. Traces of original paint remain across the surface, contributing to the pleasingly distressed character alongside the well-weathered stone patina. Reconstituted stone was widely employed in English garden ornament of the late Victorian and Edwardian periods to produce classically inspired pieces at scale. A commanding pair for a garden entrance, terrace, or flanking a stairway. Offered as a pair.
