A pair of late Victorian Scottish fireclay garden urns by Hurlford Fire Clay Works, Kilmarnock, nineteenth century. The campana-shaped urns are decorated with trailing plant relief ornament and fitted with ring handles to the sides; the square pedestals are detailed with moulded laurel-leaf banding. Both are stamped "Hurlford Fireclay Kilmarnock." Founded in 1857, Hurlford Fire Clay Works expanded by the 1880s into garden ornament and domestic wares, counting Queen Victoria among their patrons for the Balmoral estate. The works closed in the 1970s, making stamped examples traceable to a named maker and distinguished patronage. A rare and well-documented pair of Victorian garden urns with strong provenance. Offered as a pair.
