A pair of cast-stone garden troughs by Cotswold Studio, English, circa 1980s. Cotswold Studio was among the notable English producers of hand-cast stone garden ornament, working in the tradition of the Cotswold craft revival and producing pieces in natural aggregate that weather convincingly over time. These rectangular troughs follow the form of antique stone sinks and lead cisterns that became highly sought-after garden objects in the twentieth century, well suited to alpine plantings, herbs, or low-growing perennials. Both have developed a generous weathered patina consistent with decades of garden use, with surface texture and coloration that suggest considerably greater age. Structurally intact throughout. Offered as a pair.
