A pair of English cast-stone garden urns on pedestals in the Neoclassical manner, twentieth century. Cast stone — a dense composite of aggregate and cement — became the predominant material for English garden ornament in the latter half of the twentieth century, permitting the reproduction of classical forms with considerable fidelity. These urns are modeled after the grand campana or krater form associated with the Neoclassical tradition, mounted on turned pedestals that elevate the composition and add architectural presence. Both urns and pedestals have acquired an established weathered patina — the surface colonized by lichen and moss in the manner of genuinely aged stonework — lending authenticity to the pair. Structurally sound throughout. Offered as a pair.
