English circa 1920 Lead Garden Fountain with Putti Figure and Scalloped Basin
An English lead garden fountain, circa 1920, featuring a putti figure supporting a scalloped basin. The figure stands on a naturalistic base, arms raised to hold the shallow dish from which water once flowed — a composition in the tradition of European garden fountain design stretching back to the Baroque period. The lead has developed a beautifully soft, silvery patina through a century of outdoor exposure, characteristic of well-aged English garden lead.
