A pair of Louis XV period walnut communication doors, France, 1750s. Each door is composed of three horizontal registers of panels — two larger forms flanking a smaller intermediate panel — with discreetly raised molded accents lending subtle relief to the surface. The silhouette is resolved with an elegant linearity characteristic of mid-century French joinery, counterpointed by scrolling iron hardware that introduces a note of Rococo movement. The walnut has developed a warm, deep patina through centuries of use. Communication doors of this type were designed to join adjacent rooms in formal French domestic interiors while sustaining their architectural coherence. Sold as shown without additional hardware or framing. Offered as a pair.
