A pair of nineteenth-century French cast iron jars presenting a bulbous form with slightly flared rims — a profile rooted in the classical amphora tradition, reinterpreted in the heavy, enduring medium of cast iron. The surface has developed a complex, layered patina through extended exposure to the elements: patches of orange rust, grey oxidation, and green tones combine to give each jar a depth of surface that only time can produce. Cast iron pieces of this type were deployed across France as garden ornaments and planters, their weight and durability ensuring survival in excellent structural condition. Suited to indoor or outdoor display. Offered as a pair.
