French Changer’s Table from Jura in Walnut with Turned Legs, 18th Century

A handsome French changer’s table originating from the Jura region, crafted in the 18th century. The table features a solid walnut top with a well-preserved surface and warm, time-softened patina. The remaining structure is veneered in thick walnut over a fir core, consistent with regional construction methods of the period. The façade is fitted with a single belt drawer, framed by finely molded detailing that continues along the apron, adding architectural definition without excess ornamentation. The table stands on turned walnut legs, joined by a rectangular stretcher base that provides both stability and visual balance. Evidence of old wormholes is present, typical of furniture of this age and fully inactive, contributing to the piece’s authenticity. Structurally sound and in good overall condition for its period, this changer’s table is well suited for use as a side table, writing table, or accent piece, offering strong regional character and historical integrity.
