A French Louis XV period carved wood console table with marble top from the mid-18th century. This French console table, circa 1760 features a shaped veined marble top sitting over an exquisitely carved wooden base. The center of the apron showcases the typical curvy Rocailles lines of the Louis XV period, with a central knot flanked with delicate garlands. The sides are adorned with C-scrolls resting on two nicely curved legs. As beautiful as the marble top and apron are, the attention-grabbing element is undeniably the cross stretcher, beautifully embellished with a pot-Ã -feu motif (fire urn), decorated on the side with linear handles. Made to be secured against a wall, this Louis XV console table, circa 1760 will bring a refined touch to any room, perhaps placed under a giltwood mirror in a foyer or living room.
