Italian 19th Century Mahogany Center Table with Marble Top
A European twentieth-century life-size garden sculpture of a deer, carved from walnut. The figure is rendered in a naturalistic manner with attention to the musculature and stance of the animal — the carved surface articulating the texture of the coat and the characteristic form of the deer in repose or alert posture. Walnut, with its density and tight grain, is well suited to outdoor sculptural work and develops a rich, darkened patina with age and exposure.
