Nineteenth-century Italian cabinet of solid chestnut, painted in characteristic tones of light blue and dusty rose with ivory molding. The two paneled doors feature carved geometric rosettes and eight-pointed star motifs, a decorative vocabulary traditional to rural northern Italian cabinetry. Architectural in proportion, the form tapers to a shaped plinth base and is crowned with a molded cornice. The original painted surfaces have aged to produce rich tonal variation and authentic patina. Interior provides generous storage configurable with shelves or a hanging rod. A highly versatile case piece, appropriate to bedroom, kitchen, or living contexts. Measures 52¾ inches wide, 15⅜ inches deep, 77¼ inches tall.
