A nineteenth-century Tuscan wardrobe of impressive scale, painted in a characteristic shade of blue. The configuration of two large doors above two generously sized drawers is a distinctive arrangement, combining wardrobe and chest functionality within a single architectural form. Small carved floral motifs at the corners add quiet decorative accent to an otherwise restrained facade, with well-proportioned front and side elevations throughout. The painted surfaces have developed an extremely pleasant, well-aged patina. A substantial and well-composed example of Tuscan provincial cabinetmaking, suited to a primary bedroom or generous dressing room. Measures 72½ inches wide, 25¼ inches deep, 92⅞ inches tall.
