A Northern Italian walnut sideboard, late seventeenth to early eighteenth century. The small scale of the piece is distinguished by a solid single-plank walnut top — a feature increasingly rare in furniture of this age and size, as wide-plank timber of suitable quality was a mark of both the material's availability and the maker's standards. The framed paneled doors and sides are entirely original, reflecting centuries of careful preservation without alteration. The piece rests on a molded base that lends quiet architectural balance. The walnut surface carries a beautifully developed aged patina — the warm, deep tones of the grain enriched by centuries of natural oxidation and wax. In excellent structural condition throughout. A genuine and understated example of Northern Italian rural cabinetmaking at the transition from the seventeenth to the eighteenth century. 39.4"W × 16.9"D × 36.6"H.
