On Hold - French Rococo Style Carved Architectural Fragment Repurposed as an Upholstered Headboard
An impressive French Rococo-style headboard incorporating an elaborately carved architectural fragment, possibly dating to the 18th century. The decorative crest features a central oval cartouche framed by scrolling acanthus leaves, volutes, and graceful curves characteristic of the Louis XV style.
The carved wood retains a beautifully weathered painted surface in shades of antique white, soft ochre, and traces of green, with areas of exposed wood and age-related wear.
Likely originally part of an architectural interior decoration, the antique carved element has been repurposed into a generously proportioned headboard. The back has been newly constructed from solid pine and finished with natural burlap upholstery, combining historic French ornamentation with contemporary functionality.
