A pair of nineteenth-century French cast iron Médicis vases on removable stepped pedestals. Each vase presents the iconic chalice form of the Vase Médicis — a large overhanging lip above a fluted body resting on a flaring base — interpreted here in cast iron, a material that lends the classical form a robust, enduring gravity. The removable stepped pedestals elevate the vases to a commanding presence.
