Made in France in the twentieth century, this pair of Louis XIII style armchairs is constructed in solid walnut, with four legs joined by carved stretchers and high, flat backs. The Louis XIII style, a revival of the heavier seventeenth-century manner, is seen in the turned legs, carved stretchers, and upright backs of the chairs.
