Pair of Gustavian Style Chests in black Paint, circa 1890
A pair of Gustavian style chests of drawers in black paint, Swedish, circa 1890 to 1900, each with two drawers dressed in delicate molded frames and brass pulls beneath a reeded trim strip, with double-grooved corners and classic tapered legs. All locks are original and working, with two keys included. Matched pairs of small chests solve the problem designers face most often, identical enclosed storage either side of a bed, and they serve equally as end tables or hall pieces. The deep black surface has developed a beautiful patina that reads nearly black until the light finds the red. Both are sound, with wear consistent with age and use.
