A Swedish Gustavian style flower trough, circa 1900, with original zinc liner. The rectangular form is raised on tapered, fluted legs and enriched along the apron with hand-carved swags and rosettes — the neoclassical ornamental vocabulary of Gustavian design, which interpreted the French Louis XVI aesthetic through a characteristically Swedish lens of restrained elegance and pale tonality. The pale patinated finish enhances the depth of the carved detail, lending the piece a soft, timeworn presence. The original green-painted zinc insert is retained, fully functional for planting. A rare and refined piece suited to an entry hall, sunroom, or garden room.
