Swedish Early 19th Century Gustavian Painted Tall Cabinet with Reeded Doors

A Swedish Gustavian early 19th-century painted wood two-part cabinet from the county of Jämtland. Crafted in the second decade of the 19th century, this tall cabinet features a large molded cornice above two reeded doors typical of the Gustavian era. These doors open to reveal several inner shelves, including a spoon shelf, hidden drawers, and an open compartment. While the interior paint is original, the exterior was added later. An open shelf sits above the lower section, which includes a long drawer and two reeded doors. The understated décor highlights the reeding and exquisite half-columns with tall pedestals that separate the doors. The cabinet is raised on a short plinth with bracket feet. With its beautifully weathered patina and elegant silhouette, this Swedish cabinet from the 1820s will enhance any room.
