A Swedish Gustavian style painted wood chest from late 19th century, with three graduated drawers, classical hardware, carved foliage and fluted accents. This Gustavian style chest features a soft pink painted rectangular top with protruding corners in the front, sitting above three drawers of graduating size. Each drawer is fitted with brass Classical style hardware complimenting the ensemble beautifully. The canted side posts are adorned with carved foliage in their upper section, followed by fluted motifs. The chest is raised on four short tapered and fluted feet, angled in the front. It is painted in a soft color with nicely distressed patina, typical of the Swedish taste for light palettes aiming at brightening the rooms during the dark winters of Scandinavia.
